Whiston(i)
Now Peter and John went up in those days into the temple, at the evening ninth hour of prayer.
And lo a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entred into the temple.
He fixing his eyes [on them] and seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked an alms of them.
But Peter looking upon him, with John, said, Fix thine eyes on us.
And he fixed his eyes on them, expecting to receive something of them.
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but what I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Walk.
And he took him by the right hand, and raised [him] up, and immediately he stood up, and his feet and ankle-bones received strength.
And he leaping up, stood, and walked, rejoicing, and entered with them into the temple, praising God.
And all the people saw him walking about and praising God.
And they knew him, that it was he who sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
And as Peter and John went out, he went out together with them, taking hold of them. But those that were amazed stood in the cloister called Solomon's.
But Peter answered and said unto them, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or piety we had done this?
The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers hath glorified his Son Jesus Christ, whom ye delivered up to Judgment, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined and willing to let him go.
But ye oppressed the holy one, and the just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you,
And killed the prince of life, whom God raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
And through the faith of his name, hath his name strengthened this man, whom ye see, and know that the faith which is by him, hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
And now men and Brethren, know ye, that you indeed through ignorance did a wicked thing, as also your rulers.
But what God before had shewed by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come upon you, from the face of the Lord.
And he shall send Jesus Christ, who was before ordained for you.
Whom the heaven must receive, until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets,
Moses truly said unto our fathers, A prophet shall the Lord our God raise up unto you, of our brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
And it shall come to pass, every soul which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
All the prophets also from Samuel, and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise spoken of these days.
Yeare the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
Unto you first, God having raised up his Son, sent him forth to bless [you,] in turning away every one from your iniquities.
