Exodus 20:4-26

VIN(i) 4 Thou shalt not make for thyself an idol, nor the likeness of any thing, which is in the heaven above, or in the earth below, or in the waters under the earth; 5 You shall not bow down to them in worship or serve them; because I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the iniquity of the parents, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, 6 but shewing mercy for thousands [of generations] to them who love me and keep my commandments. 7 “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name. 8 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work. 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. And you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male or female servants, nor your livestock, nor the alien who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them, and he rested on the seventh day. Therefore, the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. 12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that your days can be long on the land that the LORD your God is giving you. 13 You shall not murder. 14 You shall not commit adultery. 15 You shall not steal. 16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. 17 You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is your neighbor's. 18 The people heard the thunder and the trumpet blast. They saw the lightning and the smoking mountain. They trembled with fear and stood at a distance. 19 They said to Moses, "Speak with us yourself, and we will listen; but do not let God speak with us, lest we die." 20 And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you so that his fear will be before you so that you do not sin." 21 The people stayed at a distance, and Moses came near to the thick darkness where God was. 22 the LORD commanded Moses to tell the Israelites: »You have seen how I have spoken to you from heaven. 23 You shall not make gods of silver alongside me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold. 24 'You shall make an altar of earth for me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and peace offerings, your sheep, and your cattle. Everywhere I cause my name to be remembered, I'll come to you and bless you. 25 If you make me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of cut stones; for if you lift up your tool on it, you have polluted it. 26 You shall not ascend to my altar on steps, so that your nakedness may not be exposed on it.'
