And he will be grieved and turn back and be furious against the holy covenant. And he will act, and he will return and heed the forsakers of the holy covenant. ³¹ And forces shall appear on his part, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate. ³² Through flattery he'll corrupt those who act wickedly toward the covenant, but people who know their God will be strong and take action. ³³ “Those who are wise among the people will instruct many; yet they will fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by plunder, many days. ³⁴ And when they fall they will receive little help, and many will join with them in hypocrisy. ³⁵ Some of the insightful will fall so they may be refined, purged, and purified until the time of the end, since it will surely come about.'"
