17 For the scripture saith to Pharaoh, "I have raised thee up for this purpose that by thee I may display my power; and that my name may be celebrated throughout all the earth."
18 Well then, he sheweth mercy to whom he pleaseth, and hardeneth whom he pleaseth,
19 wilt thou then say to me, Why doth he yet find fault, for who hath resisted his will?
20 But who art thou, O man, who enterest into a dispute with God? Shall the thing formed say to him who formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay to make, out of the same lump, one vessel for honour, and another for dishonour?
22 What if God willing to manifest his wrath and make known his power, did with much long suffering, bear with the vessels of wrath fitted for destruction,
23 to the end that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy which he had previously prepared for glory
