And the chief priests and the elders, even the whole Sanhedrim, sought false testimony against Jesus that they might put him to death,
but found it not. Though many false witnesses came forward, they did not find it. At last two false witnesses came,
who said, This man said, I can destroy the temple of God and in three days rebuild it.
Then the chief priest, standing up, said to him, "Answerest thou nothing to what these testify against thee?"
But Jesus was silent. Then the chief priest addressing him, said, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ, the son of God.
Jesus saith to him, It is as thou hast spoken. Moreover I say to you, Hereafter you shall see the son of man sitting at the right hand of that Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.
Upon this the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath blasphemed. What further need have we of witnesses? Behold you have now heard his blasphemy.
What think ye? Thereupon they, answering, said, He is guilty of death.
