24 And when John's messengers were gone, he took occasion to say to the people respecting John, What went ye out to the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
25 But what went ye out to see? A man clothed with soft raiment? Behold they who are splendidly dressed, and who live luxuriously, are to be found in royal palaces.
26 But what went ye out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and something more than a prophet.
27 This is he, of whom it is written, "Behold I send my messenger before thee, who shall prepare thy way for thee."
