Luke 10:25-37

Thomson(i) 25 Then a certain teacher of the law stood up, and with a view to try him, said, Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life? 26 Whereupon Jesus said to him, What is written in the law? How readest thou? 27 And he in reply, said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, even with thy whole mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. 28 Upon this Jesus said to him, Thou hast answered right. Do this and thou shall live. 29 But he, wishing to justify himself, said, And who is my neighbour? 30 In answer to which Jesus said, A certain man from Jerusalem was going down to Jericho, and fell among robbers, who having stripped him, and wounded him, went off, leaving him half dead. 31 And accidentally a certain priest went down that way, who saw him and passed on over against him. 32 And in like manner, a Levite coming to the place, when he came and saw him, passed him by. 33 But a certain Samaritan, who was on a journey, came where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion 34 and went up to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring thereon oil and wine. Then having set him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 And the next morning, when he was departing, he took out two deniars, and gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, Take care of this man: and whatever thou expendest more, I will pay thee when I return. 36 Now, which of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour to him who fell among the robbers? 37 The expounder of the law said, He who did him the act of kindness. Thereupon Jesus said to him, Go thou, and do in like manner.
