1 Now in those days, the number of the disciples being multiplied, there was a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews that their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.
2 Wherefore the twelve having called together the multitude of the disciples said, It is not proper that we should leave the word of God to attend tables:
3 look out therefore, brethren, from among yourselves seven men of good reputation, full of a holy spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint to this office.
4 And as for us, we will continue in the constant exercise of prayer, and in the ministration of the word.
5 And this speech pleased the whole multitude. So they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and a holy spirit, and Philip and Prochorus and Nicanor and Timon and Parmenias and Nicholas a proselyte of Antioch,
