Matthew 16:21-25

NSB(i) 21 From that time forward Jesus made it clear to his disciples how he would have to go to Jerusalem. He told them he would undergo much at the hands of the authorities, including the chief priests and scribes. He let them know he would be put to death. The third day he would come back from the dead. 22 Peter protested and rebuked Jesus. He said: »Do not think of that, Lord; it will never happen to you.« 23 He turned to Peter and said: »Get behind me, Satan. You are a stumbling block to me. You think the things of men, not of God.« 24 Then Jesus told his disciples: »If any man wants to follow me (be mine), let him deny (disown) himself, and take up his stake and follow me (Greek: akoloutheo moi, let him be following me) (accompany me) (be in the same way with me). 25 »He who wants to save his life will lose it. He who is willing to lose his life for my sake will find it.
