Matthew(i)
1 The Saboth daye at euen which dauneth the morowe after the saboth. Mary Magdalene, & the other Marye came to se the sepulchre.
2 And beholde there was a great earthquake. For the aungell of the Lorde descended from heauen: & came & rowled backe the stone from the dore, and sat vpon it.
3 His countenaunce was lyke lyghtnyng, & his raymente whyte as snowe.
4 And for feare of him the kepers were astonnied and became as dead men.
5 The aungel aunswered & sayd to the women: feare ye not. I knowe that ye seke Iesus, whiche was crucifyed:
6 he is not here: he is rysen as he sayd. Come & se the place where the Lord was put,
7 & go quickly & tel hys discyples that he is rysen from death. And behold, he wil go before you into Galile, there ye shall se hym. Lo, I haue tolde you.
8 And thei departed quickly from the sepulchre with feare & greate ioye: & dyd runne to bring hys disciples word.
9 And as they went to tell hys disciples: beholde, Iesus met them saying al hayle. And they came & helde him by the fete and worshypped him.
10 Then sayde Iesus vnto them: be not afrayd. Go and tel my brethren that they go into Galile, & there shal they se me.
11 When they were gone: beholde, some of the kepers came into the citye, & shewed vnto the hye Priestes all the thynges that were happened.
12 And they gathered them together with the elders, and toke counsel, & gaue large money vnto the souldiers,
13 sayinge: Saye that his discyples came by night, & stole hym away whyle ye slept:
14 and yf thys come to the rulers eares, we wyll pease him, & saue you harmles.
15 And they toke the money & did as thei were taughte. And this saiynge is noysed amonge the Iewes vnto thys daye.
16 Then the .xi. disciples wente away into Galile, into a mountayne wher Iesus had appointed them.
17 And when they sawe hym they worshipped hym. But some of them doubted.
18 And Iesus came and spake vnto them saiynge: all power is geuen vnto me in heauen and in earth.
19 Go therfore & teache all nacyons, baptisyng them in the name of the father, and the sonne, & the holye ghoste.
20 Teachyng then to obserue all thynges whatsoeuer I commaunded you, And lo I am with you alwaye, euen vntyll the ende of the worlde.
