ABU(i)
AND late in the sabbath, as it was dawning into the first day of the week, came Mary the Magdalene and the other Mary to view the sepulchre.
And behold, there was a great earthquake. For an angel of the Lord, descending out of heaven, came and rolled away the stone, and sat upon it.
His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow;
and for fear of him the keepers shook, and became as dead men.
And the angel answering said to the women: Fear not ye; for I know that ye are seeking Jesus, who was crucified.
He is not here; for he is risen, as he said. Come hither, see the place where the Lord lay.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead. And behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there ye shall see him. Behold, I told you.
And going out quickly from the sepulchre, with fear and great joy, they ran to bring his disciples word.
And behold, Jesus met them, saying: All hail! And they, coming to him, laid hold of his feet, and worshiped him.
Then Jesus says to them: Be not afraid; go, bear word to my brethren, to go away into Galilee, and there they shall see me.
And as they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and reported to the chief priests all the things that were done.
And having assembled with the elders, and taken counsel, they gave much money to the soldiers,
saying: Say, that his disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
And if this shall be heard by the governor, we will persuade him, and make you secure.
And they, taking the money, did as they were taught. And this saying was reported abroad among the Jews, until this day.
And the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into the mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
And seeing him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying: All power was given to me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore, and disciple all the nations, immersing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit;
teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you alway, unto the end of the world.
