Matthew(i)
And he blessed Ioseph saying: God before whome my fathers Abraham and Isaac dyd walke, and the god whyche had fedde me all my lyfe longe vnto thys day,
And the augell which hath delyuered me from al euyll, blesse these laddes: that they may be called after my name, and after my father Abraham and Isaac, and that they may growe & multiplye vpon the erth.
When Ioseph sawe that hys father layde his ryght hand vpon the heade of Ephraim, it displeased him. And he lyfte vp his fathers hande, to haue remoued it from Ephrayms head vnto Manasses head,
and sayde vnto hys father: Not so my father, for thys is the eldest. Put thy ryght hande vpon hys head.
And hys father wold not: but sayd: I knowe it well my sonne, I knowe it well. He shalbe also a people & shalbe great. But of a truth hys yonger brother shalbe greatter than he, and hys seed shall be full of people.
And he blessed them sayinge. At the ensample of these, the Israelites shal blesse and say: God make the as Ephraim and as manasses. Thus sett he Ephraim before Manasses.
