Matthew(i)
1 Then Abram departed out of Egypt, both he and his wife, & al that he had, and Lot with hym vnto the Southe.
2 Abram was verye ryche in cattell, syluer, & golde.
3 And he wente on hys iorney, from the South euen vnto Bethel, & to the place wher hys tent was at the fyrst tyme, betwene Bethel and Ap,
4 and vnto the place of the aulter which he made before. And ther called Abram vpon the name of the Lorde.
5 Lot also which went with him, had shepe, cattell, and tentes:
6 so that the Land was not able to receyue them, that they myght dwell togither, for the substaunce of theyr riches was so greate, that they coulde not dwel togyther.
7 And there fell a stryfe betwene the herdmen of Abrams cattell, and the herdmen of Lots cattell. Moreouer the Cananites & the Pheresytes dwelled at that tyme in the land.
8 Then sayd Abram vnto Lot: Let there be no strife (I pray the) betwene the and me, and betwene my herdmen and thine, for we be brethren.
9 Is not al the whole land before the? Departe I praye the fro me. If thou wilte take the lyfte hande, I wyll take the ryght: or if thou take the ryght hand I wyll take the lyfte.
10 And Lot lyft vp hys eyes, and beheld al the contry about Iordane, whych was a plentuous contry of water euery wher, before the Lorde destroyed Sodome & Gomorha, euen as the garden of the Lorde, & as the Land of Egypt tyll thou come to Zoar.
11 Then Lot chose al the costes of Iordane, and toke his iorney from the east. And so departed the one brother from the other.
