Mace⁽ⁱ⁾ ⁶⁰ when many of his disciples, who heard him, said, this is strange doctrine, who can hear it? ⁶¹ Jesus perceiving in himself, that his disciples murmured at it, said to them, doth this offend you? ⁶² what if you should see the son of man ascend up where he was before? ⁶³ it is the action of the mind that vivifies, that of the body profits nothing: the words that I have delivered to you, spiritually understood, give life. ⁶⁴ but there are some of you who do not believe. (for Jesus knew from the beginning, who they were that did not believe, and who should betray him.) ⁶⁵ and he said, therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my father. ⁶⁶ From that time many of his disciples withdrew, and associated no longer with him.
