But God is one. ²¹ Is the law, then, against the promise of God? God forbid. Howbeit, if there had been a law given which could have given life: then no doubt righteousness should have come by the law. ²² But the scripture concluded all things under sin, that the promise by the faith of Jesus Christ should be given unto them that believe. ²³ Before that faith came, we were kept and shut up under the law, unto the faith which should afterward be declared. ²⁴ Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster unto the time of Christ, that we might be made righteous by faith. ²⁵ But after that faith is come, now are we no longer under a schoolmaster.
