Hebrews 3:17-4:2 But with whom was He grieved forty years? Was it not with those who had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?

Was it not with those who had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? ¹⁸ And to whom did He swear that they should not enter into His rest, but to those who did not believe? ¹⁹ So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. ⁴ ¹ Therefore, a promise being left to enter into His rest, let us fear lest any of you should seem to come short of it. ² For also we have had the gospel preached, as well as them. But the Word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.
