Matthew 26:28-44

Lamsa(i) 28 This is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say to you, from now on I shall not drink from this fruit of the vine, until the day when I drink it anew with you in the kingdom of God. 30 And they offered praise, and went out to the Mount of Olives. 31 Then Jesus said to them, All of you will deny me this night; for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of his flock will be scattered. 32 But after I am risen, I will be in Galilee before you. 33 Peter answered and said to him, Even if every man should deny you, I will never deny you. 34 Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, that in this very night, before the cock crows, you will deny me three times. 35 Peter said to him, Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you. All the disciples said likewise. 36 Then Jesus came with them to a place which is called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, Sit down here, while I go to pray. 37 And he took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and he began to be sorrowful and oppressed. 38 He said to them, My soul is sorrowful even to death; wait for me here, and watch with me. 39 And he went a little further and fell on his face, and prayed saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; but let it be, not as I will, but as you. 40 Then he came to his disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, So, you were not able to watch with me even for one hour? 41 Awake and pray, that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is ready, but the body is weak. 42 He went away again the second time and prayed and said, O my Father, if this cup cannot pass, and if I have to drink it, let it be according to your will. 43 He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 And he left them and went away again and prayed the third time, and he said the same word.
