And He shall stretch out on it the line of shame, and the stones of emptiness. ¹² They shall call its nobles to a kingdom, but none shall be there; and all her rulers shall be nothing. ¹³ And thorns shall grow in her palaces, nettles and thistles in its fortresses; and it shall be a home for jackals, a court for daughters of ostriches. ¹⁴ The desert creatures shall also meet with the howlers; and the shaggy goat shall cry to his fellow. The screech owl shall also settle there, and find a place of rest for herself. ¹⁵ The snake shall nest there, and shall lay, and hatch, and shall gather in her shadow. Vultures shall also be gathered together, each with its mate.
