Jeremiah 51:38-58

ECB(i) 38 they roar together as whelps: they growl as whelps of lions. 39 In their heat, I place their banquets; and I intoxicate them so that they jump for joy and sleep an eternal sleep and waken not - an oracle of Yah Veh. 40 I bring them down as rams to the slaughter - as rams with he goats. 41 How Sheshach is captured! And how the halal of the whole earth is apprehended! How Babel becomes a desolation among the goyim! 42 The sea ascends on Babel - covered with the multitude of the waves: 43 her cities a desolation; a parched land; and a plain: a land wherein neither man settles nor a son of humanity passes therein. 44 And I visit on Bel in Babel, and from his mouth I bring forth what he swallowed: and the goyim flow together to him no more: yes, the wall of Babel falls. 45 My people, come from among her and rescue every man his soul from the fuming wrath of Yah Veh. 46 And lest your heart be tenderized, and you awe for the report heard in the land; a report comes in a year: and a year after the report, violence in the land - sovereign against sovereign. 47 So behold, days come, that I visit shame on the sculptiles of Babel and her whole land; and all her pierced fall in her midst. 48 And the heavens and the earth and all therein shout against Babel: for the ravagers come to her from the north - an oracle of Yah Veh. 49 As Babel pierced Yisra El to fall, thus at Babel all the pierced of the earth fall. 50 You who escaped the sword, go away; stand not still: remember Yah Veh from afar and ascend Yeru Shalem into your heart. 51 We shame, because we hear reproach: shame covers our faces: for strangers come into the holies of the house of Yah Veh. 52 So behold, days come, - an oracle of Yah Veh that I visit on her sculptiles: and through all her land the pierced shriek: 53 though Babel ascends to the heavens, and though she fortify the height of her strength, my ravagers come to her - an oracle of Yah Veh. 54 A voice of a cry from Babel, and great breaking from the land of the Kesediym: 55 because Yah Veh ravages Babel, and destroys from her the great voice; when her waves roar as great waters, an uproar of their voice is given: 56 because the ravager comes on her - on Babel and her mighty are captured; every one of their bows break: for Yah Veh El of dealings in shalaming, shalams: 57 and I intoxicate her governors and her wise - her governors and her prefects and her mighty: and they sleep an eternal sleep and waken not - an oracle of the Sovereign whose name is Yah Veh Sabaoth. 58 Thus says Yah Veh Sabaoth: In stripping bare, the broad walls of Babel are stripped bare and her high portals burned with fire: and the people labor vainly enough and the nations are in the fire enough; and they weary.
