2 Yah Hudah mourns and the portals languish - darkened to the earth; and the outcry of Yeru Shalem ascends:
3 and the mighty send their little ones to the waters: they come to the dugouts and find no water; they return with their instruments empty: they shame and are ashamed and cover their heads:
4 because the soil is broken for there is no downpour in the earth: the cultivators shame; they cover their heads.
5 And even the hind births in the field, and forsakes; because there is no sprout:
6 and the wild runners stand in the barrens; they gulp the wind as monsters; their eyes finish off because there is no herbage.
