BLB⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ Therefore six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised out from the dead. ² Therefore they made Him a supper there, and Martha was serving, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with Him. ³ Therefore Mary, having taken a litra of fragrant oil of pure nard, of great price, anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil. ⁴ But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, being about to betray Him, says, ⁵ “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” ⁶ But he said this, not because he was caring for the poor, but because he was a thief; and having the money bag, he used to pilfer that being put into it. ⁷ Therefore Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that for the day of My burial she may keep it. ⁸ For you always have the poor with you, but not always do you have Me.”
