ABU(i)
THEREFORE Jesus, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom Jesus raised from the dead.
They therefore made him a supper there, and Martha served; and Lazarus was one of those who reclined at table with him.
Then Mary took a pound of ointment of pure spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.
Then says one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who was about to betray him:
Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred denáries, and given to the poor?
This he said, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bore what was put therein.
Then said Jesus: Let her alone; she has kept it to the day of my preparation for burial.
For the poor ye have always with you; but me ye have not always.
