Matthew 6:16 Ὅταν (Whenever) δὲ (now) νηστεύητε (you fast), μὴ (not) γίνεσθε (be) ὡς (like) οἱ (the) ὑποκριταὶ (hypocrites), σκυθρωποί (gloomy); ἀφανίζουσιν (they disfigure) γὰρ (for) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (appearance) αὐτῶν (of them), ὅπως (so that) φανῶσιν (they might appear) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (to men) νηστεύοντες (as fasting). ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀπέχουσιν (they have) τὸν (the) μισθὸν (reward) αὐτῶν (of them).
