Matthew 27:23-26 Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) ἔφη (he said), “Τί (What) γὰρ (for) κακὸν (evil) ἐποίησεν (did He commit)?” Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) περισσῶς (all the more) ἔκραζον (they kept crying out), λέγοντες (saying), “Σταυρωθήτω (Let Him be crucified).”

BIB⁽ⁱ⁾ ²³ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) ἔφη (he said), “Τί (What) γὰρ (for) κακὸν (evil) ἐποίησεν (did He commit)?” Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) περισσῶς (all the more) ἔκραζον (they kept crying out), λέγοντες (saying), “Σταυρωθήτω (Let Him be crucified).” ²⁴ Ἰδὼν (Having seen) δὲ (now) ὁ (-) Πιλᾶτος (Pilate) ὅτι (that) οὐδὲν (nothing) ὠφελεῖ (it availed), ἀλλὰ (but) μᾶλλον (rather) θόρυβος (a riot) γίνεται (is arising), λαβὼν (having taken) ὕδωρ (water), ἀπενίψατο (he washed) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands) ἀπέναντι* (before) τοῦ (the) ὄχλου (crowd), λέγων (saying), “Ἀθῷός (Guiltless) εἰμι (I am) ἀπὸ (of) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τούτου (of this). ὑμεῖς (For yourselves) ὄψεσθε (you will see).” ²⁵ Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), πᾶς (all) ὁ (the) λαὸς (people) εἶπεν (said), “Τὸ (The) αἷμα (blood) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐφ’ (be on) ἡμᾶς (us), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) ἡμῶν (of us).” ²⁶ Τότε (Then) ἀπέλυσεν (he released) αὐτοῖς (to them) τὸν (-) Βαραββᾶν (Barabbas); τὸν (-) δὲ (and) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) φραγελλώσας (having flogged), παρέδωκεν (He delivered up Him), ἵνα (that) σταυρωθῇ (He might be crucified).
