1. of iron, for use on stone or metal Jer 17:1 (בְּצִפֹּרֶן שָׁמִיר with diamond-point), Job 19:24 (see also חֶרֶט).

2. probably = reed-pen (used o roll, compare Jer 36:2; Jer 36:23 etc.), שֶׁקֶר סֹפְרִים ׳ע Jer 8:8, figurative, סוֺפֵר מָהִיר ׳לְשׁוֺנִי ע Ps 45:1 (compare Now^{Archaeology i. 290} Benz^{Archaeology 290}).
