הַס, הָ֑ס interjection hush! keep silence (probably onomatopoetic) Judg 3:19 and he said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king, וַיּאֹמֶר הָ֔ס and he said, Keep silence! Amos 6:10 וְאָמַר הָ֔ס (while burying men in a pestilence), Amos 8:3 (elliptical) in every place: הִשְׁלִיךְ הָֽס they cast them (the corpses) forth, (saying) Hysh ! followed by ׳(מִפָּנָיו) מִפְּנֵי י Hab 2:20; Zeph 1:7; Zech 2:17. Inflected, as though a verb, imperative plural הַ֔סּוּ Neh 8:11 (Ges compares Arabic [= הֲלֹם] hither! inflected as an imperative, e.g. , : WAG i. § 368). Hence as denominative

Hiph`il imperfect with apocope וַיַּ֫הַס Num 13:30 and Caleb stilled the people.
