Mark 10:38-51

Anderson(i) 38 Jesus said to them: You know not what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and to be immersed with the immersion with which I am immersed? 39 They said to him: "We are able. Jesus said to them: You shall drink the cup that I drink, and you shall be immersed with the immersion with which I am immersed. 40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left, is not mine to give; but it shall be given to those for whom it is prepared. 41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be displeased with James and John. 42 But Jesus called them to him, and said to them: You know that those who think they rule the Gentiles, act as lords over them; and their great men exercise authority over them. 43 But it shall not be so among you. But whoever desires to be great among you, shall be your minister; 44 and whoever among you desires to be first, shall be servant of all. 45 For the Son of man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. 46 And they came to Jericho: and as he was going out of Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timseus, was sitting on the roadside, begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out and say: Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me! 48 And many rebuked him, that he should be silent. But he cried out yet the more: Son of David, have mercy on me! 49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man, and said to him: Take courage; arise, he calls you. 50 And throwing away his mantle, he arose, and came to Jesus. 51 And Jesus answered and said to him: What do you wish me to do for you? The blind man said to him: Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.
