Mark 10:17-30

Anderson(i) 17 And as he was going forth into the road, one ran and bowed the knee to him, and asked him: Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? 18 Jesus said to him: Why do you call me good? None is good but one, that is God. 19 You know the commandments, You shall not commit adultery; You shall not kill; You shall not steal; You shall not give false testimony; You shall not defraud; Honor your father and mother. 20 He answered and said to him: Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth. 21 And Jesus, looking on him, loved him, and said to him: One thing you lack; go, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and fol low me. 22 But becoming sad at that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. 23 And Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples: With what difficulty will those who have riches enter into the kingdom of God! 24 And his disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus, answering again, said to them: Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 26 And they were astonished beyond measure, and said among themselves: Who, then, can be saved? 27 Jesus looked on them and said: With men this is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible. 28 And Peter began to say to him: Behold, we have left all and followed thee. 29 And Jesus answering, said: Verily I say to you, There is no one that has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel, 30 who shall not receive a hundred-fold, now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life.
