ABU⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹⁴ But John sought to hinder him, saying: I have need to be immersed by thee, and dost thou come to me? ¹⁵ And Jesus answering said to him: Suffer it now; for thus it becomes us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him. ¹⁶ And having been immersed, Jesus went up immediately from the water; and lo, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending, as a dove, and coming upon him. ¹⁷ And lo, a voice out of heaven, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
