And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and about to die.
And having heard concerning Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him that he would come and heal his servant.
And they, coming to Jesus, besought him earnestly, saying: He is worthy that thou shouldst do this for him;
for he loves our nation, and himself built our synagogue.
And Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him: Lord, trouble not thyself; for I am not worthy that thou shouldst enter under my roof.
Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come to thee; but say with a word, and my servant will be healed.
For I am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me, and I say to this one, Go, and he goes, and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.
And Jesus hearing these things, marveled at him; and turning said to the multitude that followed him: I say to you, I found not so great faith, even in Israel.
And they who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.
