44 And on the next sabbath day, almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.
45 But the Jews, seeing the multitudes, were filled with indignation, and spoke against the things said by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly, and said: It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you; but since ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves not worthy of the eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
47 For so has the Lord commanded us: I have set thee for a light of the Gentiles, That thou shouldst be for salvation to the end of the earth.
48 And the Gentiles hearing it rejoiced, and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were appointed unto eternal life believed.
