¹ These are the sermons that were shewed vnto Amos (whiche was one of the shepeherdes at Thecua) vpon Israel, in the tyme of Osiah kynge of Iuda, and in the tyme of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioah kynge of Israel, two yeare before the earthquake.

¹ Moyses kepte the sheepe of Iethro hys father in lawe prieste of Madian, and he droue the flocke to the backesyde of the deserte, and came to the mountayne of God, Horeb.

² he sent to Thekoa, and fet thence a wyse woman, and sayde vnto her: feyne thy selfe to be a mourner, and put on mournyng apparell. And annoynt not thy selfe wyth oyle. But be as a woman that had long tyme mourned for the death of some bodye.

¹⁹ And he departed thence, and founde Elizeus the sonne of Saphat plowinge wyth twelue yocke of oxen before him, and he with the twelue. And Eliah went to hym and cast his mantel vpon him.

²¹ And al the people of Iuda toke Azariah, which was .xvi. yeare old, & made hym kyng for his father Amaziah.

²³ The .xv. yeare of Amaziah sonne of Iehoas kynge of Iuda, was Ieroboam sonne of Ioas made kynge ouer Israel in Samaria, & raygned .xli. yeare,

⁶ as Bethlehem, Etam & Thekua:

²⁰ And so they arose erlye in the mornyng, and get them out vnto the wyldernesse of Tekua. And as they went out, Iehosaphat stode and sayde: heare me Iuda, and ye enhabyters of Ierusalem. Beleue in the Lorde youre God, and so shall ye continue: and beleue his prophetes & so shall ye prospere.

¹ Then all the people of Iuda toke Oziah whiche was .xvi. yere olde, and made hym Kynge in the rowme of hys father Amaziah. ² And he buylt Eloth and brought it agayne to Iuda after the kynge was layde to rest with his fathers. ³ Sixtene yere olde was Oziah when he began to raigne and he raigned .lij. yeare in Ierusalem. Hys mothers name was Iecaliah of Ierusalem. ⁴ And he dyd that pleased the Lord, in al pointes as dyd hys father Amaziah. ⁵ And he soughte God, whyle Zachariah the teacher to se God lyued: and as longe as he sought the Lorde, God made him prospere. ⁶ And he went to battel agaynst the Philistines and brake doune the walles of Geth, and the walles of Iabneh and the walles of Asdod, and buylt cities about Asdod & among the Philistines. ⁷ And God holpe him against the Philistines & againste the Arabiens that dwelt in Gurbaal, & against the Meunites. ⁸ And the Ammonites gaue tribute to Oziah, & his name sprede abroade euen to Egipt: for he played the man exceaded. ⁹ Moreouer Oziah buylte toures in Ierusalem ouer the corner gate, & ouer the valeye gate, and ouer other corners, and made them stronge. ¹⁰ And he built toures in the wildernesse & digged many welles. For he had much catel, both in the valey and also in the playne: and plowmen and vinedressers in the mountaynes and in Charmel, for he loued husbandrye. ¹¹ And Oziah had an host of fyghtyng men that went out to warre in the armye & were tolde & numbred by Ieiel the scrybe & Maasiah an officer, vnder the hand of Hananiah one of the kynges Lordes. ¹² And the hoale numbre of the auncient heades of the men of might were .ij. thousande & syxe hundred ¹³ and vnder the handes of them was the armie of the hoste, thre hundred & seuen thousand, & fyue hundred that made warre wyth myght & strength, to helpe the kynge againste hys enemyes. ¹⁴ And Oziah prouyded them thorow oute al the host shildes, speares, helmettes, habergynnes, bowes & slinges for stones. ¹⁵ And he made engynes in Ierusalem by the crafte of artifycers to be on the towres & corners, to shote arowes & great stones with al. And his name spreade farre abroade, for he was wonderflye holpe, vntyl he was become myghtye. ¹⁶ And in his greatnesse hys hert arose, that he was marred: & transgressed against the Lord his God. For he went into the temple of the Lorde to burne cense vpon the aulter of incense. ¹⁷ But Asariah the prieste went in after him with foure skore priestes of the Lorde that were bolde men. ¹⁸ And they stepte to Oziah the kynge & sayde to him: it pertayneth not to the Oziah to burne cense vnto the Lorde, but to the priestes the children of Aaron that are consecrate for to burne incense. Come out of the sanctuarye, for thou hast trespaced, and it shalbe no worshepe to the before the Lorde God. ¹⁹ And Oziah was wroth and had cense in hys hande to offer, and in hys indignacyon agaynste the prieste, the leprosye sprange in his forhead the priestes in the house of the Lorde, euen besyde the incense aulter. ²⁰ And Asariah the chefe priest with al the other priestes loked vpon him: and beholde he was a leper in his forhead, & they vexed him thence. And therto he was fayne to go oute, because the Lord had plaged him. ²¹ And Oziah the kynge continued a lepre vnto the daye of his death & dwelte in an house at lybertie: howe be it, he was cast out of the house of the Lord. And Ionatham his sonne had the gouernaunce of the kynges house & iudged the people of the lande. ²² The rest of the actes of Oziah both fyrste and last, did Isaiah the prophete the sonne of Amos write. ²³ And when Oziah was layde to rest with his fathers, they buryed him wt his fathers in the felde of the burial of the kinges. For they sayde: he is a leper. And Ioatham his sonne raygned in his steade.

⁷⁰ He chose Dauid also hys seruaunte, and toke hym away from the shepe foldes. ⁷¹ As he was folowynge the yewes greate with yonge, he toke him, that he myghte fede Iacob hys people, & Israel hys enherytance. ⁷² So he fedde them wyth a fayethfull and true herte, and ruled them wyth diligence of of his power.

¹ The prophecye of Esai the sonne of Amos, whiche he shewed vpon Iuda & Ierusalem: In the tyme of Oziah, Ioatham, Ahaz, and Iehezekiah Kynges of Iuda.

¹ These are the Sermons of Ieremy the sonne of Helkiah the prieste, one of them that dwelt at Anathoth in the land of Beniamin:

¹ Come out of Ierusalem, ye strong children of Ben Iamin: blowe vp the trompettes ye Tecuytes, set vp a token vnto Bethcarem, for a plage and a greate myserye pepeth oute from the Northe.

²⁷ And thou shalt now speake all these wordes vnto them, but they shall not heare the: thou shalte crye vpon them but they shall not aunswere the.

¹ This is the worde of of the Lord, that came vnto Oseas the sonne of Beery, in the dayes of Oseas, Ioathan, Ahaz and Iezekiah kinges of Iuda: and in the tyme of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioas kynge of Israel.

⁹ but the hye hylchapels of Isaac must be layed waste, and the churches of Israell made desolate: and as for the house of Ieroboam, I wyl stand vp agaynst with the swerd. ¹⁰ Vpon this sent Amasiah the prest to Bethell vnto Ieroboam the kynge of Israel, sayinge: Amos maketh the house of Israel to rebell agaynst the, the lande can not awaye with his wordes. ¹¹ For Amos sayeth, Ieroboam shall dye with the swearde, and Israel shall be led awaye captyue oute of theyr owne land.

¹⁴ Amos aunswered, and sayde to Amasiah: As for me I am neyther Prophet, nor prophetes sonne: but a keper of catell. Now as I was breakinge downe molberies, and goyng after the catell,

¹ Thys is the worde of the Lord that came vnto Micheas the Morastite, in the dayes of Iothan, Ahas & Iehezekiah kinges of Iuda: which was shewed hym vpon Samaria & Ierusalem.

⁵ And ye shal fle vnto the valley of my hylles, for the valley of the hylles shal reach vnto Asal. Yea, fle shal ye, like as ye fled for the earthquake in the dayes of Osiah king of Iuda. And the lord my God shall come, and al sayntes with him.

⁸ Asa begat Iosaphat. Iosaphat begat Ioram: Ioram begat Hosias: ⁹ Hosias begat Ioatham: Ioatham begat Achas: Achas begat Ezechias:

¹⁸ As Iesus walked by the sea of Galile, he sawe two brethren: Symon which was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fysshers,

²⁷ but God had chosen the folyshe thynges of the worlde, to confounde the wise. And God hath chosen the weake thinges of the worlde, to confounde thynges, whyche are myghty.
