¹ Behold what manner of love the Father has given us in allowing us to be called "Children of God!" And that is what we are. For this reason the world does not recognize us, because it did not know him.

¹² But to all who receive him, to them he has given the right to become children of God, even to those who trust in his name;

¹⁶ "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever trusts in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

¹⁸ "do not forget that it hated me first. ¹⁹ "If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, for that reason the world hates you.

³ "And they will do these things because they have not known my Father, nor me.

²⁵ O righteous Father, though the world knew thee not, I have known thee, and these have known that though didst send me.

⁸ But God gives proof of his love to us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

¹⁴ For only those are sons of God who are led by God's Spirit. ¹⁵ For you have not received a spirit of slavery in order that you should once more be afraid; but you have received a spirit of adoption, in which we cry out, "My Father, my dear Father!" ¹⁶ For his Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are children of God; ¹⁷ and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ; but to share his glory, we must now be sharing his sufferings.

²¹ yet not without the hope that some day nature itself also will be freed from the thralldom of decay, into the freedom which belongs to the glory of the children of God.

³² He that spared not his own Son, But freely delivered him up for us all, How shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

²⁵ As he also said in Hosea. Those who were not my people I will call "my people," And her "beloved" who was not beloved; ²⁶ And in that very spot where it was told them, "You are not my people," There they shall be called "Sons of the living God."

¹⁸ then I will receive you and will be to you a Father, and you shall be to me sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

²⁶ You are all sons of God through your faith in Jesus Christ.

²⁹ And if you belong to Christ, then you are the descendants of Abraham, heirs according to the promise.

⁵ to redeem from captivity those under law, in order that we might receive our sonship. ⁶ And because you are sons, God sent forth the spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, "Dear, dear Father!"

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, ⁵ even while we were dead in our trespasses, made us live together with Christ (it is by grace you have been saved).

¹⁸ that you may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is "the breadth," "the length," "the depth," and "the height," ¹⁹ and may know the love of Christ which transcends all knowing, so that you may be filled with all the "plenitude" of God.

³ for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

⁹ In this was the love of God clearly shown toward us, by his sending his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be a propitiation for our sins.

⁷ He who overcomes will inherit these, And I will be his God, And he shall be my son.
