¹ After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee you into another: for truthfully I say unto you, You shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

³⁸ But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.

³¹ The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get you out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill you. ³² And he said unto them, Go you, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and the next day, and the third day I shall be perfected. ³³ Nevertheless I must walk today, and the next day, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

¹⁹ And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?

³ He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.

⁵⁴ This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

¹⁶ And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. ¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, My Father works until now, and I work. ¹⁸ Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

¹⁹ Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why go you about to kill me?

²⁵ Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?

³⁷ I know that you are Abraham's seed; but you seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you.

⁴⁰ But now you seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.

³⁹ Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand, ⁴⁰ And went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.

⁵³ Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death. ⁵⁴ Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went from there unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

³⁸ How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
