¹ And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

¹⁵ Seven days shall you eat unleavened bread; even the first day you shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.

⁷ In the first day you shall have an holy convocation: you shall do no servile work therein.

¹⁰ Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, When you be come into the land which I give to you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then you shall bring a sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest: ¹¹ And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.

¹⁵ And you shall count to you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:

⁹ Seven weeks shall you number to you: begin to number the seven weeks from such time as you begin to put the sickle to the corn.

²⁵ When you come into the standing corn of your neighbor, then you may pluck the ears with your hand; but you shall not move a sickle to your neighbor's standing corn.

¹ At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungered, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat. ² But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, Behold, your disciples do that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath day. ³ But he said to them, Have you not read what David did, when he was an hungered, and they that were with him; ⁴ How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? ⁵ Or have you not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? ⁶ But I say to you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. ⁷ But if you had known what this means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless. ⁸ For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

²³ And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. ²⁴ And the Pharisees said to him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? ²⁵ And he said to them, Have you never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungered, he, and they that were with him? ²⁶ How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the show bread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him? ²⁷ And he said to them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: ²⁸ Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
