John 19:32-42

Williams(i) 32 So the soldiers went and broke the legs of the first man and of the other one who had been crucified with Him. 33 But when they came to Jesus, as they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs, 34 but one of the soldiers thrust a lance into His side and blood and water at once flowed out. 35 The man who saw it has testified to it -- and his testimony is true, and he knows that he is telling the truth -- in order that you too may come to believe it. 36 For this took place that this Scripture might be fulfilled, "Not a bone of His will be broken." 37 And again another Scripture says, "They shall look at Him whom they pierced." 38 After this, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but a secret one because of his fear of the Jews, asked permission of Pilate to remove the body of Jesus, and Pilate granted it. So he went and removed His body. 39 Now Nicodemus also, who had formerly come to Jesus at night, went and took a mixture of myrrh and aloes that weighed about one hundred pounds. 40 So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in bandages with the spices, in accordance with the Jewish custom of preparing a body for burial. 41 There was a garden at the place where Jesus had been crucified, and in the garden there was a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42 So, because it was the Jewish Preparation day and because the tomb was near by, they laid Him there.
