Psalms 27:1-36:1

VIN(i) 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When evildoers drew near against me To devour my flesh, They who were to me my foes and my enemies, They stumbled and fell." 3 Though an army is deployed against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident. 4 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple 5 Because in the day of trouble he will hide me in his shelter. He will hide me in the covering of his tabernacle He will lift me up upon a rock. 6 Now my head will be lifted up above my enemies, even those who surround me. I will sacrifice in his tent with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melodies to the LORD. 7 Hear, O LORD, my voice when I call, and be gracious to me and answer me. 8 My heart says to You, Seek my face; Your face, O LORD, I will seek; 9 Do not hide your face from me; do not turn your servant away in anger. You have been my help; do not abandon nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. 10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then LORD will take me up. 11 Teach me your way, LORD. Lead me in a straight path, because of my enemies. 12 Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me, such as breathe out violence. 13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and let thy heart take courage: yea, wait for the LORD. 28 1 ([Psalm of David]) O LORD, I call to you. O my rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. If you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit (grave). 2 Hear the voice of my petitions, when I cry to you, when I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place. 3 Do not draw me away with the wicked, with evildoers who speak peace with their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts. 4 Pay them back for what they have done, for their evil deeds. Pay them back for what their hands have done, and give them recompense. 5 Because they do not regard the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he will break them down and not build them up. 6 Blessed is the LORD for he has heard my prayer (supplication)! 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I received help. My heart exalts, and I give thanks to him with my song. 8 The LORD is the strength of his people. He is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed. 9 Save your people, and bless your inheritance. Be their shepherd also, and bear them up forever. 29 1 A psalm of David. Ascribe to the LORD, O sons of God, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. 2 Give to the LORD, the glory due to his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. 3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders. the LORD is over many waters. 4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. 5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars. Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. 6 He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young, wild ox. 7 The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning. 8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and strippeth the forests bare; and in His temple all say: 'Glory.' 10 the LORD sat enthroned over the flood. the LORD sits enthroned as king forever. 11 May the LORD give strength to his people. May the LORD bless his people with peace. 30 1 A psalm; a song for the dedication of the house. Of David. I will exalt you, O LORD, because you have drawn me up, and have not made my enemies rejoice over me. 2 O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you healed me. 3 O LORD, you brought me up from the grave. You kept me alive, that I would not go down to the pit. 4 Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of his. Give thanks to his holy name. 5 For His anger is only a moment; in His favor is life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. 6 When things went well for me I said, I will never be moved. 7 You, LORD, when you favored me, made my mountain stand strong; but when you hid your face, I was troubled. 8 To you, O LORD, I called, and to the Lord I pleaded for grace saying, 9 "What gain is there in my death, in my going down into the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness? 10 Hear, O LORD, and be gracious to me; O LORD, be my Help!" 11 You have turned my wailing into my dancing. You have removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy 12 so that I may sing praise to you and not remain silent. LORD, my God, I will give you thanks forever! 31 1 For the music director. A psalm of David. In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge. Let me not be put to shame ever. Deliver me by your righteousness. 2 Turn your ear toward me. Rescue me quickly. Be a rock of refuge for me, a stronghold fortress to save me. 3 For you are my rock and my fortress. So, for the sake of your name, lead me and guide me. 4 Pull me from the net they hide for me; for you are my stronghold: 5 Into your hands I commit my spirit. You redeem me, LORD, God of truth. 6 I hate those who cling to false gods, but I do trust in the LORD. 7 And I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy; for You have seen my affliction; You have known the distresses in my soul; 8 You have not handed me over to the hand of the enemy. You have set my feet in a large place. 9 Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in distress. My eye wastes away with grief, [yea], my soul and my body. 10 For my life is spent with sorrow, my years with sighing. My strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones waste away. 11 Because of all my adversaries I have become utterly contemptible to my neighbors, a horror to my acquaintances. Those who saw me on the street fled from me. 12 I am forgotten from their hearts like a dead man. I am like broken pottery. 13 I have heard the slander of many; it is like terror all around me, as they conspire together and plot to take my life. 14 But I trust in you, LORD. I say, "You are my God." 15 My times are in Your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who pursue me. 16 Make your face to shine on your servant. Save me in your loving kindness. 17 Let me not be put to shame, O LORD, for I have called upon thee. Let the wicked be put to shame. Let them be silent in Sheol. 18 Let the lying lips be put to silence; who speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous. 19 Oh how great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you have worked for those who take refuge in you, before the sons of men. 20 In the shelter of your presence you will hide them from the plotting of man. You will keep them secretly in a dwelling away from the strife of tongues. 21 Praise be to the LORD, for he has shown me his marvelous loving kindness in a besieged city. 22 When I was panic-stricken, I said: I have been cut off from your sight. But you heard my pleas for mercy when I cried out to you for help. 23 O love the LORD, all you his saints: for the LORD preserves the faithful, and plentifully repays the proud doer. 24 Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the LORD. 32 1 {Of David. Instruction.} Blessed is he [whose] transgression is forgiven, [whose] sin is covered! 2 Blessed is the man to whom LORD does not impute sin, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My strength was sapped in the heat of summer. Selah. 5 I acknowledged my sin to you and I did not hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to the LORD and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah. 6 For this, let everyone who is godly pray to you in a time when you may be found. Surely when the great waters overflow, they shall not reach to him. 7 You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah. 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. 9 Do not be like the horse, or like the mule, which have no understanding, who are controlled by bit and bridle, or else they will not come near to you. 10 Many sorrows come to the wicked, but loving kindness shall surround him who trusts in Yahweh. 11 Rejoice in the LORD, and be glad, ye righteous; and shout for joy, all ye upright in heart. 33 1 Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous. Praise is fitting for the upright. 2 Give thanks unto the LORD with the harp; sing psalms unto him with the ten-stringed lute. 3 Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with shouts of joy. 4 For the word of the LORD is right, and all his work is in faithfulness. 5 He loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of the LORD's loving-kindness. 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, and all the hosts of them by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathered the waters of the ocean into a heap; he put the deeps into storehouses. 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world stand in awe of Him. 9 For he spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood firm. 10 the LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations. He frustrates the plans of the peoples. 11 The counsel of the LORD stands fast forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he has chosen for his inheritance. 13 From heaven the LORD looks; he sees all the children of humankind. 14 From His dwelling place He looks on all the people of the earth. 15 He formed the hearts of them all; he understands everything they do. 16 The king is not saved by great force; a mighty man is not saved by great strength. 17 It is vain to trust in a horse for deliverance, even with its great strength, it cannot deliver. 18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope for his loyal love 19 to deliver their soul from death, to keep them alive in famine. 20 We wait on the LORD; he is our help and our shield. 21 Our heart rejoices in him, for we trust in his holy name. 22 LORD, may your gracious love be upon us, even as we hope in you. 34 1 I will bless the LORD at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall boast in the Lord; let the meek hear, and rejoice. 3 Oh magnify the LORD with me. Let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. 5 All who look to him will be radiant. Their faces will never be covered with shame. 6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. 8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. 9 Fear the LORD, you holy ones of his; for those who fear him lack nothing. 10 Young lions lack and go hungry, but those who seek the LORD will never lack any good thing. 11 Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of the LORD. 12 What man soever desireth life and loveth to see good days: 13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies. 14 Turn from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 the LORD is near to the broken-hearted; and saves those who are of a contrite spirit. 19 A righteous person will have many troubles, but the LORD will deliver him from them all. 20 God protects all his bones; not one of them will be broken. 21 Evil will kill the wicked and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. 22 the LORD ransometh the soul of his servants, And none shall be held guilty, who seek refuge in him. 35 1 Contend, LORD, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me. 2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help. 3 And draw the spear and javelin to meet those who pursue me. Say to my soul, "I am your salvation." 4 Let those who seek my life be put to shame and disgraced. Let those who plan my downfall be turned back in confusion. 5 Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them. 6 Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them. 7 For they have hidden their pit-net for me without cause; without cause they have dug for my soul. 8 Surprise them with destruction. Let the net that they hid catch them. Let them fall into their own pit and be destroyed. 9 Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD; it will rejoice in his salvation. 10 All my bones shall say, "LORD, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?" 11 Unrighteous witnesses rise up; they accuse me of things that I know nothing about. 12 They repay me evil for good, Bereaving my soul. 13 But when they were sick, I wore sackcloth. I humbled myself with fasting. My prayer returned unanswered. 14 I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother. I bowed down mourning, as he who weeps for his mother. 15 Yet, when I stumbled, they rejoiced and gathered together. They gathered together against me. Unknown attackers tore me apart without stopping. 16 Like the profane mockers in feasts, they gnashed their teeth at me. 17 Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue my soul from their destruction, my precious life from the lions. 18 I will give thanks to you in the great assembly; among the mighty people I will praise you. 19 Let not those who are wrongfully my enemies rejoice over me. Nor let those who hate me without cause wink the eye. 20 For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land. 21 They open their mouths against me and say: Aha! Aha! Our own eyes have seen it. 22 This you have seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me. 23 Wake up, and rise to my defense. Plead my case, O my God the LORD. 24 Judge me by your righteousness, O LORD my God. Do not let them gloat. 25 Do not let them say: Aha, just what we wanted! We have swallowed him up. 26 Let those who gloat over my downfall be thoroughly put to shame and confused. Let those who promote themselves at my expense be clothed with shame and disgrace. 27 Let those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and rejoice! Let them continually say, "Magnify the LORD, who delights in giving peace to his servant." 28 My tongue will declare your righteousness and your praise all day long. 36 1 For the Chief Musician. By David, the servant of the LORD. An oracle is within my heart about the disobedience of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes.
