MLV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ Now full of the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan, and was being led by the Spirit into the wilderness, ² being tempted by the devil for forty days. And he ate nothing in those days, and later, having completed them, he hungered. ³ And the devil said to him, If you are the Son of God, speak to this stone in order that it may become bread.
⁴ And Jesus answered to him, saying, It has been written, ‘Man will not live on bread only, but upon every declaration from God.’
