quiet, tranquil," occurs in 1 Timothy 2:2, RV, "tranquil" (AV, "quiet"); it indicates tranquillity arising from without.

[ A-2,Adjective,G2272, hesuchios ]
has much the same meaning as No. 1, but indicates "tranquillity arising from within," causing no distrubance to others. It is translated "quiet" in 1 Timothy 2:2, RV (AV, "peaceable"); "quiet" in 1 Peter 3:4, where it is associated with "meek," and is to characterize the spirit or disposition. See PEACEABLE.
