²³ And not only others, but those also who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit the redemption of our body.

³⁶ for they can die no more, being like the angels: and they are the children of God as being the children of the resurrection.

²⁸ But when these things begin to come to pass, look upwards and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh.

⁵ and experience hope, and this hope maketh us not ashamed; because the love of God is diffused in our hearts by the holy Spirit that is given to us.

²⁴ Wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from this body of death?

¹⁵ For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. ¹⁶ So that the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.

¹⁹ For the earnest expectation of the world is waiting for the revelation of the sons of God:

²⁵ but if we hope for what we see not, then we wait for it with patience. ²⁶ And the Spirit likewise helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for, as we ought: but the Spirit itself intercedes for us with unutterable groans.

² And therefore whilst we are in this tabernacle we groan, being very desirous to be covered with our house which is from heaven: since though unclothed of this body, ³ yet we shall not be found naked. ⁴ For we who are in this tabernacle do groan, being burthened; wherefore we desire, not to be wholly unclothed, but to put on immortality, that the mortal part may be swallowed up in life. ⁵ Now He, that hath wrought us hereunto, is God; who hath also given us the earnest of the Spirit.

⁵ For when we came into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were afflicted on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.

⁵ For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, ²³ gentleness, goodness, fidelity, meekness, temperance: against such things there is no law.

¹⁴ who is the pledge of our inheritance, till the redemption of his purchased possession, to the praise of his glory.

³⁰ And grieve not the holy Spirit of God whereby ye are sealed to the day of redemption.

⁹ walk therefore as children of light, (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,)

²¹ For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain: and if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor: ²² so that I know not what to chuse; ²³ for I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ, which is much preferable:

²⁰ from whence also we expect the Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ: who will change our vile body, ²¹ that it may be made like his glorious body, according to the energy of his ability to subdue all things to Himself.

⁸ As to what remains, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day: and not to me only, but also to all those who have longed for his appearance.

¹³ looking for the blessed hope, and glorious appearance of the great God, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ:

²⁸ so Christ, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear the second time without sin, to those who are waiting for Him, unto salvation.

⁷ That the proof of your faith, which is much more precious than of gold, (that perisheth, though tried by fire) may be found unto praise, and honor, and glory, when Jesus Christ shall be revealed:

² Beloved, we are now the children of God, but it doth not yet appear what we shall be: we know however, that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.
