¹² having also a great and high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and there were names inscribed, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel.

¹⁷ And he measured the wall of it an hundred forty four cubits according to the measure of a man, for such was that of the angel. ¹⁸ And the structure of its wall was of Jasper, and the city pure gold, like transparent glass. ¹⁹ And the foundations of the wall of the city were set off each with precious stones: the first foundation a jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, ²⁰ the fourth an emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprasus, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth an amethyst. ²¹ And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each of the gates was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold like resplendent glass.
