²² many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name have cast out devils, and in thy name have wrought many miracles? and I will then declare unto them,

²¹ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doth the will of my Father, who is in heaven:

⁵ These twelve did Jesus send forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not among the gentiles, neither enter into any city of the Samaritans: ⁶ but go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. ⁷ And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand: and in confirmation of your doctrine heal the sick, ⁸ cleanse the leprous, raise the dead, cast out demons; and as ye have received freely, freely give.

¹⁵ for I tell you verily, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha, in the day of judgement, than for that city.

³⁶ But of THAT day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only:

¹¹ Afterwards came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us:

¹² And I tell you, it shall be more tolerable in that day even for Sodom than for that city.

²⁵ When the master of the house shall have risen up and shut the door, and ye begin to stand without and knock at the door saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and He shall answer and say to you, I know you not, whence ye are: ²⁶ then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drank in thy presence, ²⁷ and thou hast taught in our streets, But He will say, I tell you, I know you not, whence ye are; depart from me all ye workers of iniquity:

⁵¹ This however he spake not of himself, but being high-priest at that time he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation:

¹³ Then some of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to name the name of the Lord Jesus over those that had evil spirits, saying, "We adjure you by Jesus, whom Paul preacheth." ¹⁴ Now there were seven sons of one Sceva a Jewish priest, who did this. ¹⁵ But the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are ye?

¹ For if I speak with the tongues of men and angels, and have not charity, I am but as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. ² And though I have the gift of prophecy, and am acquainted with all mysteries, and all knowledge: yea if I have faith, even. to remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

⁴ But ye, my brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should seize you as a thief:

¹⁰ in that day, when He shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe; because our testimony among you was believed.

¹² for which cause also I suffer these things; but I am not ashamed: for I know in whom I have trusted, and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him against that day.

¹⁸ (The Lord grant that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day!) And how much he ministered to me at Ephesus too, thou knowest full well.

⁸ As to what remains, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day: and not to me only, but also to all those who have longed for his appearance.

⁴ who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the holy Spirit, ⁵ and of the good word of God, ⁶ and the powers of the gospel-age, and yet fall away, should be renewed again to repentance: since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God, and make an open example of Him.
