²⁶ it shall not be so among you; but whosoever would be great among you, let him be your minister, and whoever would be chief among you,

⁸ But be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor even Christ, and ye are all brethren. ⁹ Neither call any man upon earth Father; for one is your Father, who is in heaven: ¹⁰ neither be ye called masters; for one is your master, even Christ. ¹¹ But let him that is greatest among you be your minister: and whosoever will exalt himself shall be abased, ¹² and whosoever will humble himself shall be exalted.

⁴⁴ Then will they also answer Him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee famishing, or a-thirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not relieve thee?

⁵⁵ And several women were there looking on at a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministring unto Him:

³⁵ So He sat down and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any one would be first, let him be last of all, and servant of all.

⁴³ But it shall not be so among you: but whoever would be great among you shall be your minister;

⁴⁵ For the Son of man came not to be ministred unto, but to minister and to give his life a ransom for many.

⁷ And He spake a parable to those that were invited, observing how they chose the chief seats, saying unto them, ⁸ When thou art invited by any one to a wedding, do not sit down in the uppermost place, least one more honorable than thou be invited by him; ⁹ and he who invited thee and him, should come and say to thee, Give place to this person, and then thou begin with shame to take the lowest place. ¹⁰ But when thou art invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, that, when he who invited thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then wilt thou have honor before them that sit at table with thee: ¹¹ for whosoever exalteth himself shall be humbled, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for whoever exalteth himself shall be abased, but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

³⁶ Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have fought, that I might not have been delivered to the Jews: but my kingdom is not from hence.

⁵ And when they arrived at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John for their assistant.

²⁴ not that we are lords over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

⁴ (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the demolishing of bulwarks:) ⁵ destroying false reasonings, and every height that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and captivating every thought to the obedience of Christ. ⁶ And being prepared to avenge all disobedience, since your obedience is fulfilled. ⁷ Do ye look at things according to the outward appearance? If any one is confident in himself that he is Christ's, let him consider this again of himself, that as he is Christ's, so we also are Christ's. ⁸ For though I should boast yet more of our authority, (which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction) I should not be ashamed: ⁹ that I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters; ¹⁰ for his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

¹⁸ (The Lord grant that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day!) And how much he ministered to me at Ephesus too, thou knowest full well.

¹³ Whom I would gladly have kept with me, that he might have ministered unto me as thou wouldst have done, in the bonds of the gospel. ¹⁴ Are they not all ministring spirits, sent forth to attend on those who shall be heirs of salvation?

¹¹ If any one speak, let it be as declaring the oracles of God: if any one minister, let it be as from the power which God affordeth him: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

³ nor as lording it over the people, but being examples to the flock.

⁹ I wrote to the church: but Diotrephes, who affects the pre-eminence among them, doth not receive us. ¹⁰ Therefore when I come, I will remember his deeds, prating against us with wicked words: and not content with these, he neither receiveth the brethren himself, nor suffers those that would; and casteth them out of the church.

¹¹ And I saw another beast ascending out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb; but he spake like a dragon. ¹² And he exerciseth all the authority of the first beast in his presence; and makes the earth, and those that dwell in it, to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. ¹³ And he doth great wonders, so that even maketh fire to come down from heaven to earth in the sight of men; and deceiveth those that dwell on the earth, ¹⁴ by the signs which it was given him to do in the presence of the beast, telling the inhabitants of the earth to make an image to the beast, that had received the wound of the sword, and yet lived. ¹⁵ And he was permitted to give life to the image of the beast, that it might both speak, and cause all those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. ¹⁶ And he maketh all, both small and great, rich and poor, free-men and slaves, to receive a mark on their right hand, or on their foreheads: and that no one might buy or sell, ¹⁷ but he that hath the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

⁶ And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great amazement.
