²⁰ The young man saith unto Him, All these have I kept from my youth: wherein am I yet deficient?

²⁰ And he answered and said unto Him, Master, all these have I kept from my youth. ²¹ Then Jesus looked upon him with affection, and said to him, One thing thou wantest; go, sell all that thou hast, and give it to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross and follow me.

⁷ Thus, I tell you, there shall be joy in heaven over one repenting sinner, more than over ninety-nine righteous persons, that have no need of repentance.

²⁹ But he answered and said to his father, Behold so many years as I serve thee, nor have I ever transgressed thy command, and yet thou hast never given me a kid, to be merry with my friends:

¹¹ The pharisee standing by himself prayed thus, O God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are, rapacious, unjust, adulterous, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast twice a week, and I give tithes of all that I possess.
