²⁰ as also the cup after supper, saying, This cup represents the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.

²⁸ for this is my blood, the blood of the new covenant, which is to be shed for many for the remission of sins:

¹⁶ ---The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? the bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? ¹⁷ For the bread is one, and we though many are one body; for we all partake of that one bread. ¹⁸ Consider Israel according to the flesh, Are not they, that eat of the sacrifices, partakers of the altar? ¹⁹ What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that what is sacrificed to an idol is in itself any thing to stumble at? ²⁰ No: but this I say, that what the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God. ²¹ And I would not have you partakers with demons. Ye cannot drink of the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: ye cannot be partakers of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.

²⁵ And in the same manner He took the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant ratified in my blood: this do, as often as ye drink of it, in remembrance of me."

⁶ Who hath also fitted us to be ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life.

⁶ But now He hath obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which is established upon better promises. ⁷ For if the first covenant had been unexceptionable, there had been no room for a second: ⁸ as we see there was, for after complaining of them, He adds, "Behold the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: ⁹ not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers, in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. ¹⁰ But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their mind, and I will inscribe them on their hearts; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people. ¹¹ And they shall not teach every one his neighbour, and every one his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the lest even to the greatest of them. ¹² For I will forgive their crimes, and their sins and their iniquities I will remember no more." ¹³ Now by saying, a new covenant, He hath antiquated the first: and what is antiquated, and groweth old, is near it's exit.

¹⁵ And on this account He is the mediator of a new covenant, that undergoing death for the redemption of transgressions against the first covenant, they that are called might receive the promise of an eternal inheritance.

¹⁷ For a testament is valid after men are dead, but is of no force while the testator is living.

²⁴ and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than Abel.

²⁰ Now the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the everlasting covenant,
