³⁴ The eye is the candle of the body: therefore when thine eye is clear, thy whole body also is light; but when it is bad, thy body also is dark.

²² The eye is the light of the body: if therefore thine eye be clear, thy whole body will be light; ²³ but if thine eye be bad, thy whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

¹² that in seeing they may see and not perceive, and in hearing they may hear and not understand, least they should be converted, and their sins be forgiven them.

²² adulteries, fornications, murthers, thefts, avarice, malice, deceit, lasciviousness, envy, slander, pride, folly;

¹⁸ Have ye eyes, and do not see? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

⁴⁶ And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they partook of their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

¹¹ And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing even the sun for a time. And immediately there fell upon him a mist and darkness; and groping about he sought for somebody to lead him by the hand.

¹⁸ to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan unto God; that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.

⁸ (according as it is written, God hath given them a spirit of slumber, that their eyes could not see and their ears could not hear,) even unto this day. ⁹ And David saith, Let their table become a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling-block, and a recompence unto them. ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened that they may not see, and always bow down their back.

¹² For this is our rejoicing, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and pious sincerity, not with carnal wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and especially towards you.

⁴ among whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, so that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, doth not shine unto them:

³ But I fear least as the serpent seduced Eve by his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the purity that is in Christ.

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to the knowledge of Him,

⁵ Servants, obey them that are your masters according to the flesh, with reverential fear, in the simplicity of your heart, as unto Christ:

²² Servants, be obedient in all things to your lawful masters, not with eye-service as men-pleasers, but in uprightness of heart, fearing God; and whatever service ye do,

⁹ who comes, through the efficacy of Satan, with all kind of lying power, and signs, ¹⁰ and wonders, and with all iniquitous fraud, among those that shall perish; because they received not the love of the truth, by which they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this cause God will send upon them the efficacy of error, so that they shall themselves believe the lie: ¹² that they may all be condemned, who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in iniquity.
