² for we are graciously offered it, as they also were. But the word, which they heard, did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

²⁶ and to you first God having raised up his son Jesus, sent Him to bless you; in your turning away every one of you from your iniquities.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said, It was necessary that the word of God should be first spoken to you; but since ye reject it, and judge not yourselves worthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles:

²⁵ For circumcision indeed is profitable, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision.

¹⁶ But all have not obeyed the gospel: for Esaias saith, "Lord, who hath believed our report?" ¹⁷ So that faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

³ And though I give all my substance to feed the poor, and my body to be burnt, and have not charity, I am nothing profited.

⁸ And the scripture foreseeing that God would justify the gentiles through faith, preached the gospel to Abraham long ago, saying, "In thee shall all nations be blessed."

¹³ But ye know that in the infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel to you at first:

⁵ For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in much certainty; as ye know what sort of persons we were among you for your sakes.

¹³ For this also we thank God continually, that when ye received the word of God, which ye heard from us, ye received it not as the word of men, but (as it is in truth) the word of God, which also worketh effectually in you that believe.

¹² that they may all be condemned, who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in iniquity. ¹³ But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord; because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth:

⁸ For bodily exercise profiteth little, but piety is profitable unto all things, having the promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come:

¹² Take heed, my brethren, least there be in any of you a wicked heart of unbelief in departing from the living God:

¹⁸ and to whom did He swear that they should not enter into his rest, but to those that were disobedient? ¹⁹ and so we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

⁶ Seeing therefore it remaineth that some are to enter into it, and they to whom it was at first offered did not enter because of their unbelief,

⁶ whereas without faith it is impossible to please Him; for he that cometh to God must believe, that He is, and is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

²¹ Laying aside therefore all filthiness, and excess of malice, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

¹² to whom it was revealed, that it was not to themselves, but to us they ministered these things, which are now declared unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you, through the holy Spirit sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
