¹ Brethren, if a man be overtaken in any fault, do ye, who are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, least thou also shouldst be tempted.

¹³ "I desire mercy rather than sacrifice:" for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.

²⁹ Take but my yoke upon you, and learn of me, (for I am meek and lowly in heart,) and ye shall find refreshment to your souls:

¹² What think ye? if any man had an hundred sheep, and one of them should go astray, would he not leave the ninety and nine, and go upon the hills, and seek that which is gone astray? ¹³ And if he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more on account of that, than of the ninety nine which went not astray. ¹⁴ Even so it is not the will of your heavenly Father, that any one of these little ones should be lost. ¹⁵ And if thy brother trespass against thee, go and expostulate with him alone; if he hearken to thee, thou hast gained thy brother:

⁶⁹ Now Peter was sitting without in the hall, and one of the maids came to him and said, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee:

⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who had said to him, before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

⁴ saying, What man of you that hath an hundred sheep, and loseth one of them, doth not leave the ninety-nine in the field, and go after that which was lost, till he find it? ⁵ And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders rejoicing: ⁶ and coming home, he calleth his friends and neighbors together and saith unto them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost. ⁷ Thus, I tell you, there shall be joy in heaven over one repenting sinner, more than over ninety-nine righteous persons, that have no need of repentance.

²² But the father said to his servants, bring out the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: ²³ and bring hither the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and be merry: ²⁴ for this my son was dead, and is alive again, and was lost and is found. And they began to be merry. ²⁵ But his elder son was out in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing: ²⁶ and he called one of the servants to him, and asked what these things meant. ²⁷ And he said to him, Thy brother is come, and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and well: but he was angry, and would not go in. ²⁸ Therefore his father came out and desired him. ²⁹ But he answered and said to his father, Behold so many years as I serve thee, nor have I ever transgressed thy command, and yet thou hast never given me a kid, to be merry with my friends: ³⁰ but as soon as this thy son was come, who hath eaten up thy substance with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. ³¹ And he said unto him, Son, thou art always with me, and all that I have is thine. ³² But it was fit we should be merry and rejoice; for this thy brother was dead, and is come to life again, was lost and is found.

⁶ Now to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace:

¹ Receive him that is weak in the faith, but not to disputes about doubtful matters:

¹ Now we that are strong, ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves:

¹⁵ Whereas the spiritual man discerneth all things, yet is himself discerned by no one.

¹ And I, my brethren, could not speak to you, as to spiritual persons, but as to carnal ones, even as to babes in Christ.

²¹ What do ye chuse? that I should come to you with a rod? or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

⁵ Do not withdraw from one another, unless by consent for a season, that ye may attend to fasting and prayer: and come together again, least Satan tempt you through your incontinency.

¹² Wherefore let him, that thinks he standeth, take heed least he fall.

³⁷ If any one seem to be a prophet, or acted by the Spirit, let him acknowlege that what I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.

⁷ So that on the contrary, ye ought rather to forgive and comfort him, least such a one should be swallowed up with excessive sorrow.

¹ Now I Paul myself exhort you, by the meekness and lenity of Christ, who in presence am lowly among you,

¹¹ But when Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was indeed to be blamed. ¹² For before certain men came from James, he did eat with the gentiles; but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those of the circumcision. ¹³ And the rest of the Jews dissembled also with him; so that Barnabas too was carried away with their dissimulation.

²³ gentleness, goodness, fidelity, meekness, temperance: against such things there is no law.

¹⁵ However do not look upon him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

²⁵ with meekness instructing those of different sentiments, not knowing but God may give them repentance to the acknowledgement of the truth;

¹³ And make strait paths for your feet, that what is lame may not be turned out of the way, but rather be healed.

³ Remember those that are in bonds, as if bound with them: and those that suffer evil as being yourselves also in the body.

² and if any offend not in word, he is a compleat man, able to manage also the whole body.

¹³ Is there any wise and understanding man among you? let him shew his works by a good conversation in the meekness of wisdom:

¹⁹ Brethren, if any among you be seduced from the truth, and one convert him; ²⁰ let him know that he, who turneth back a sinner from the error of his way, shall save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.

¹⁵ and be always ready to answer every one that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and reverence:

¹⁶ If any one see his brother commit a sin which is not unto death, let him pray for him, and God will give him life, that is for them that do not sin unto death. There is a sin unto death: and for that I do not say that he should pray.

²² And on some have compassion, making a difference; others save with fear, ²³ as snatching them out of the fire: hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
