¹ Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again in the yoke of bondage.

²⁸ Come unto me therefore all ye who are labouring and oppressed, and I will give you ease. ²⁹ Take but my yoke upon you, and learn of me, (for I am meek and lowly in heart,) and ye shall find refreshment to your souls: ³⁰ for my yoke is easy, and my burthen is light.

⁴ for they bind grievous and intolerable burthens, and impose them upon men; but they themselves will not put a finger to them:

³² And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. ³³ They answered Him, We are the seed of Abraham, and never were slaves to any one, how then dost thou say, Ye shall be made free? ³⁴ Jesus answered them, Verily, verily I say unto you, whosoever maketh a practice of sin, is the servant of sin. ³⁵ Now the servant does not continue always in the family: but the Son abideth always. ³⁶ If therefore the Son make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

¹⁰ Now therefore why do ye tempt God, in imposing a yoke on the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

¹⁴ For sin shall have no power over you, inasmuch as ye are not under the law, but under grace.

¹⁸ and being set free from sin, ye are become the servants of righteousness.

³ Therefore while her husband is living, she shall be called an adulteress if she become another man's: but if her husband be dead, she is free from the law; so that she is not an adulteress, though she become another man's.

⁶ But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead by which we were bound, that we might serve God in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

² For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath set me free from the law of sin and death.

²² For he that is called in the Lord being a slave, is the Lord's freed-man: and he likewise that is called being free is the servant of Christ.

⁵⁸ Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, since ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

¹³ Be watchful, stand fast in the faith, behave like men, be strong:

¹⁷ now the Lord is that Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

⁴ and that because of the false brethren clandestinely introduced, who had crept in as spies upon our liberty, which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

²⁵ But now faith is come we are no longer under a pedagogue.

⁹ But now that ye know God, or rather are known by God, how is it that ye turn again to the poor weak elements, to which ye desire again to be in bondage as before?

²⁶ But the Jerusalem above is represented by the free-woman, which is the mother of us all.

³¹ Now we, my brethren, are not children of the servant, but of the free-woman.

¹³ For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only abuse not this liberty for an occasion to indulge the flesh, but by mutual love serve one another.

¹⁴ Stand therefore having your loins girt about with truth, and putting on the breast-plate of righteousness:

²⁷ Only behave worthy of the gospel of Christ, that whether I come and see you, or be absent, I may hear of you, that ye stand firm in one Spirit, striving together as with one soul for the saith of the gospel;

¹⁶ Let no one therefore judge you on account of meat, or drink, or in respect of a feast, or a new-moon, or sabbaths; ¹⁷ which are a shadow of good things to come, but the body is of Christ. ¹⁸ Let no one deprive you of your reward by an affected humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into what he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his carnal mind; ¹⁹ and not adhering to the head, from which all the body, being supplied and held together as by joints and bands, increaseth with the increase of God. ²⁰ If therefore ye be dead with Christ from the elements of the world; why, as if living in the world, are ye subject to ceremonial ordinances, ²¹ (such as "touch not, taste not, ²² handle not," which all tend to corruption in the using,) according to the commandments and doctrines of men?

⁸ for now we are revived, since you are stedfast in the Lord.

¹⁵ Therefore, brethren, be steady, and hold fast the traditions, which ye have been taught, whether by word or by our letter.

⁶ but Christ as a Son over his own house; whose house we are, if we maintain the free profession and exultation of hope firm unto the end.

¹⁴ for we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold fast our first confidence firm unto the end; inasmuch as it is said,

¹⁴ Having therefore a great high-priest, that is passed into the heavens, even Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession:

⁸ The Holy Ghost shewing by this, that the way into the Holy of holies was not yet manifested, the first tabernacle being yet standing. ⁹ Which figure remains to the present time, wherein gifts and sacrifices are offered, that cannot perfect the worshipper as to his conscience, ¹⁰ relating only to meats and drinks, and different washings, and such carnal ordinances as were required till the time of reformation. ¹¹ But Christ being come an high-priest of the good things to come, hath entered once for all into the holy places, through a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is, not of this building,

²³ Let us inflexibly retain the profession of our hope,

³⁵ Cast not away therefore your couragious profession, which hath a great recompence of reward. ³⁶ For ye have need of patience, that having done the will of God ye may receive the promise. ³⁷ For yet a little while, and He, that is coming, will come, and will not delay: ³⁸ and the just shall live by faith, but if any draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. ³⁹ But we are not of those who withdraw to perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

¹⁶ as free, and yet not using your liberty as a cloke for wickedness, but as the servants of God.

¹⁹ promising them liberty, while they themselves are the slaves of corruption: for by whom any one is vanquished, by him he is also enslaved.

³ Beloved, having an earnest desire to write to you concerning the common salvation, I was under a necessity of writing to exhort you that ye would strive earnestly for the faith which was once delivered to the saints.

²⁰ But ye, beloved, edifying yourselves in your most holy faith, and praying in the holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, ²¹ looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

²⁵ but what ye have hold fast till I come.

³ Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent: for if thou be not watchful, I will come upon thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know at what hour I will come upon thee.
