1 Timothy 2 Cross References - Worsley

1 This then I exhort thee first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings he made for all men; 2 particularly for kings, and all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all piety and virtue. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour: 4 who is willing that all men should be saved, and therefore come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus: 6 who gave himself a ransom for all, a testimony to be published in due time, 7 for which I was appointed a herald and an apostle. I speak the truth in Christ, I lie not; I am a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 8 I direct therefore that men pray in every place, lifting up holy hands without wrath and debate: 9 likewise that women dress themselves in decent apparel with modesty and prudence, not in braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly garments; 10 but in good works, as becometh women professing godliness. 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all submission: but I permit not a woman to teach, 12 nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be silent. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not seduced by the serpent, but the woman being led astray was first in the transgression. 15 Yet shall she be saved through childbirth, if they continue in faith and love, in holiness and modesty.

Wouldest thou then not be afraid of the civil power? do what is good, and thou shalt have praise from it: 4 for he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou dost evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is also the minister of God, as an avenger to execute his wrath upon the malefactor. 5 Wherefore it is necessary to submit, not only on account of punishment, but also of conscience. 6 For you pay them tribute also for this reason; because they are God's ministers, continually attending hereunto. 7 Render therefore to all what is their due: tribute to whom tribute is due, custom to whom custom, reverence to whom reverence, honor to whom honor.

Hebrews 2:6-13

6 But one in a certain place hath testified, saying, "What is man that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest Him? 7 Thou madest Him for a little while inferior to the angels; with glory and honor hast thou crowned Him, and hast set Him over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet," 8 For in putting all things under Him, He left nothing which was not to be in subjection to Him: though we do not yet see all things subjected to Him. 9 But we see Jesus, who was made for a little while lower than the angels, in order to suffer death, that by the grace of God He might taste death for every man, crowned with glory and honor. 10 For it became Him for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect by sufferings: 11 since He that sanctifieth, and they that are sanctified, are all of one. For which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 saying, "I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the congregation will I praise Thee." 13 And again, "I will trust in Him:" and again, "Behold, I, and the children which God hath given me."

Hebrews 6:11

11 And we desire that every one of you would shew the same diligence to acquire the full assurance of hope even unto the end:

12 nor by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Hebrews 9:15

15 And on this account He is the mediator of a new covenant, that undergoing death for the redemption of transgressions against the first covenant, they that are called might receive the promise of an eternal inheritance.

22 let us draw near with sincerity, in the full assurance of faith, having our hearts cleansed from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Hebrews 10:26

26 For if we sin wilfully after having received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins;

Hebrews 12:14

14 Follow peace with all men; and holiness, without which none shall see the Lord:

Hebrews 12:24

24 and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than Abel.

Hebrews 13:16

16 But to do good and to communicate forget not; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

James 1:6-8

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting; for he that doubteth is like a wave of the sea blown about and tossed by the wind. 7 Let not that man think that he shall receive any thing from the Lord. 8 A double-minded man is inconstant in all his ways.

James 4:8

8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you: cleanse your hands, O sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

James 5:16

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed: the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

1 Peter 1:18-19

18 knowing that ye were redeemed from your vain conversation learned by tradition from your fathers, not with corruptible things, as silver and gold; 19 but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1 Peter 2:5

5 and precious, ye also are built up as living stones, a spiritual house, an holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:9-13

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should declare the glories of Him, who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 who heretofore were not a people, but are now the people of God: who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 11 Dearly beloved, I exhort you as strangers and sojourners here, to abstain from carnal lusts, which war against the soul: 12 having a good conversation among the Gentiles; that whereas they speak against you as evil-doers, they may glorify God in the day of their visitation, on account of the good works which they behold in you.

1 Peter 2:12

12 having a good conversation among the Gentiles; that whereas they speak against you as evil-doers, they may glorify God in the day of their visitation, on account of the good works which they behold in you. 13 Be subject therefore to every human form of government, for the Lord's sake: whether it be to a king as supreme;

1 Peter 2:20

20 For what glory is it, if when ye sin and are punished for it, ye bear it patiently? but if when ye do well and suffer for it, ye bear it patiently, this will gain favor with God.

24 Who Himself bare our sins in his own body on the cross, that we being dead to sins, might live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye are healed.

1 Ye women likewise, be subject to your own husbands, that if any believe not the word, they may yet without the word be gained over by the deportment of the wives,

1 Peter 3:3-5

3 Whose adorning, let it not be that without, of plaiting the hair, and putting on of gold, or wearing fine clothes; 4 but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 5 For so also formerly the holy women, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being submissive to their husbands; as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him her lord:

1 Peter 3:5-6

5 For so also formerly the holy women, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being submissive to their husbands; as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him her lord: 6 whose daughters ye are, if ye do well, and are not terrified with any sinful fear. 7 Ye husbands likewise, dwell with them according to knowledge, yielding due respect to the wife as the weaker vessel, and as joint-heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

1 Peter 3:18

18 As Christ also once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust (that He might introduce us to God) being indeed put to death in the flesh, but raised to life by the Spirit:

1 Peter 4:7

7 But the end of all things draws nigh: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer:

2 Peter 1:3-7

3 as his divine power hath given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who hath called us by that glory and virtue, 4 by which are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye may become partakers of a divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And to this giving all diligence, add to your faith fortitude; 6 and to fortitude knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience piety;

2 Peter 1:6-8

6 and to fortitude knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience piety; 7 and to piety brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection charity.

7 and to piety brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection charity. 8 For if these be in you and abound, they will not suffer you to be idle, nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

5 (but preserved Noah an eighth person, a preacher of righteousness,) bringing a deluge upon the world of the ungodly;

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness,

1 John 2:1-2

1 My little children, I write these things unto you, that ye may not sin. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

1 John 3:20-22

20 For, if our heart condemn us, God is still greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence towards God: 22 and whatsoever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep his commandments, and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.
